Pedestrian struck and killed by car on Royle Road early Monday morning, troopers say

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a deadly pedestrian crash that happened in Berkeley County early Monday morning.

According to Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2002 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Royle Road near US 17 (one mile east of Ladson) when it struck a pedestrian.

The 23-year-old driver was not injured in the crash. The pedestrian died at the scene.

Trooper Tidwell said the crash happened around 1:15 a.m.

SCHP’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was called to assist with the investigation.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
